The most common myths on acne

Myth 1
Acne is not caused by poor hygiene. Many people always think that acne is caused by poor hygiene, hence they do vigorous scrubbing on their skin. Vigorous scrubbing not only strip off the protective layer on your skin but also worsen your acne condition. Cleansing your face with mild cleanser twice a day is more than enough. I would only advise scrubbing your face GENTLY once or twice a week.

Myth 2
Chocolate is the main cause on acne. Till now, there are no scientific fact to prove this. However, I would still advise those people who are suffering from acne eat lesser chocolates but that does not mean you cannot eat. It was because eating too much will cause your body to be heaty. When your body is too heaty, more pimples may appear due to this problem.

Myth 3
Squeezing your pimple will let your acne disappear faster. Squeezing your pimples will only give you scars on your face. In certain cases, it may worsen the condition.

Myth 4
Stress is not the direct cause on face acne. However, stress can cause the body to produce a hormone called Cortisol. Cortisol may cause more pimples to breakout or aggreviate your current skin condition.

Myth 5
Only Teenagers who are going through purberty face acne problem. Although it is true that many teenagers undergoing purberty age may experience acne problem. However, there are people who have their first breakout or acne problem when they reaches the age of 30 and above. This is often referred as "Adult Acne".
