Gestational Diabetes

Gestational Diabetes are normally found on pregnant woman. Normally, their blood sugar are too high causing gestational diabetes. When blood sugar is too high for a pregnant woman, it is also not good for the baby.

Causes of Gestational Diabetes:

Changing hormones and weight gain occur during pregnancy. both changes make it hard for your body to keep up with its need for a hormone called insulin.

Risk Factor for Gestational Diabetes:

  • Pregnant Woman.

  • have gestational diabetes before and gave birth to large babies.

  • family history of diabetes.

  • Stillbirth in previous pregnancy.

  • Birth defects in previous pregnancy.

  • Obesity

Gestational Diabetes does not really cause any symptoms. However, if the pregnant woman experience any increase in thirst, urination, hunger or blurred vision should be tested for diabetes. Anyway, most of the time, pregnant woman have to go for diabetes tests between 24th to 28th week.

Normally, gestational diabetes can be under control and the possible complication can be prevented. It does not cause any birth defects but the baby may be quite large when at birth and this may cause birth injury due to the baby's size and difficulty in giving birth.

After delivery, the baby may have Hypoglycemia(low blood sugar for the baby) because during pregnancy, the baby have consistent high insulin from the mother, once it is out of the mother's womb, the baby will no longer have the high blood sugar from the mother and hence resulting low blood sugar.

Too much insulin or glucose in the baby's system will also delay lung maturation and cause respiration difficulties in babies.

Hence, during pregnancy, the mother should take extra precaution in taking care of themselves. Avoid having too much sugary food.

Diabetes Type 1

Diabetes Type 1 is more common in Caucasians than in those of Latino, African-American, or other non-Caucasian backgrounds.

Risk Factor for Diabetes Type 1:

-Inherity
If their parents have diabetes, their child will have higher risk of getting diabetes.

- Autoimmune Diseases
Thyroid problem and Celiac Diseases raise the risk of getting diabetes type 1.

- Viruses
Some viral infection may trigger the disease.

People with Type 1 Diabetes requires insulin to lowers blood sugar by allowing it to leave the blood stream and enter cells. Insulin injections everyday is a MUST for them as their body cannot produce insulin. Of course, beside injecting insulins everyday, their diet is also very important. They should be eating very healthy diets that can allow the food and insulin to work together to regulate blood glucose levels. If their diet is not balance, their glucose will not be kept at healthy level.

Beside these, Diabetes patient should also have regular exercises as this will control their sugar level and also burn fat that can lead to overweight.

Diabetes is best treated seriously in order to avoid any further complication. Further complication can be like heart disease, kidney problem, eye problem and many......

Prevention Of Wrinkles Should Start Early

Taking great care of your skin should start early. Wrinkles begin forming as early as the age of 20s. Wrinkles can formed due to many reasons like excessive exposure to sun, lack of sleep, smoking, stress and improper skincare routine etc. Especially excessive exposure to sun can cause your skin to lose its collagen and elasity.

Hence, taking good care of your skin is definitely important. Always remember the 3 basic steps. Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise.

Here are some of the methods to prevent your skin from aging to early
- Drink enough water and eat more fruits and vegetables
- Always apply sunscreen
- Wear sunglasses to prevent crowfeets appearing on your eye area
- Exercises daily
- Use anti wrinkle products

One of my recommendation is Murad Anti aging Products. Their Night Reform Treatment is one of the most popular pick in their anti aging series. It can help to increase your skin's firmness by 28%. It also have powerful antioxidant protection and protect the skin's barrier function with the moisture retained.

Do you love to eat yogurt? Have you been buying yogurt from supermarket? How about making your own yogurt? This recipe is easy and healthy.

Yogurt is created by the propagation of bacteria cultures. Hence placing yogurt into milk with the right temperature will allow the bacteria to spread and form yogurt.

Yogurt

Let the milk cool down to lukewarm temperature.

Add the Plain Yogurt. Stir to blend in.

Cover the the stove with the stove lid. Use a Thick towel to wrap the stove up. Ferment the Yogurt for about 8 to 10 hours or wait until the next morning.

Unwrap the yogurt. The Yogurt should have form the shape just like jelly beancurd.

Place the Yogurt into the refrigerator until next day or night time.

Mix the Yogurt with your favourite fruits or nuts and it is ready for serving.

Treatments for Acne

There are no actual cure for acne. Different skin suit different products and hence produce a different impact as well. Depending on the seriousness of your acne, dematologist may prescribe topical or oral medication. The most common ones are :

  • Topical retinoids - Retin A, Differin, Tazorac
  • Topical or oral antibiotics
  • Benzoyl peroxide
  • Sulfur
  • Birth Control Pills for hormonal treatment

When the right treatment are done, your skin will gradually heal.

Other kind of acne treatment include procedural acne treatments

  • Comedo extractions: it is often done at a beauty salon during facial by a certified esthetician. For severe acne like cysts or lesions is best done by a dematologist through surgical methods as extreme forcing may hurt the skin and leave scars behind.
  • Chemical Peels: Peels help to improve or smoothen your skin texture. Normally this kind treatment exfoliate your skin using AHAs or TCAs. This kind of treatment is most commonly done for lightening acne scars and wrinkles
  • Microdebrasion: it is commonly done at beauty salon. This treatment use a machine that rapidly discharge super-fine crystals over the skin's surface. It is suitable for blackheads and whiteheads but not inflammed, red pimples with pus.
  • Phototherapy: This treatment involve using light or laser. It can treat all stages of acne. The light can be adjusted to the severity of your skin. Any laser or peels done after that is best to use sunblock after that. This is to prevent pigmentation from forming.
  • Corticosteroid injections: Dematologist will inject a cyst with Corticosteroid. It speed up the healing process, reduce inflammation and the chances of scarring after it heal.

The most common myths on acne

Myth 1
Acne is not caused by poor hygiene. Many people always think that acne is caused by poor hygiene, hence they do vigorous scrubbing on their skin. Vigorous scrubbing not only strip off the protective layer on your skin but also worsen your acne condition. Cleansing your face with mild cleanser twice a day is more than enough. I would only advise scrubbing your face GENTLY once or twice a week.

Myth 2
Chocolate is the main cause on acne. Till now, there are no scientific fact to prove this. However, I would still advise those people who are suffering from acne eat lesser chocolates but that does not mean you cannot eat. It was because eating too much will cause your body to be heaty. When your body is too heaty, more pimples may appear due to this problem.

Myth 3
Squeezing your pimple will let your acne disappear faster. Squeezing your pimples will only give you scars on your face. In certain cases, it may worsen the condition.

Myth 4
Stress is not the direct cause on face acne. However, stress can cause the body to produce a hormone called Cortisol. Cortisol may cause more pimples to breakout or aggreviate your current skin condition.

Myth 5
Only Teenagers who are going through purberty face acne problem. Although it is true that many teenagers undergoing purberty age may experience acne problem. However, there are people who have their first breakout or acne problem when they reaches the age of 30 and above. This is often referred as "Adult Acne".

What Causes Acne?

Many reasons can cause acne but to be exact, it is still not known yet. It maybe internal or external factors. Acne can happened when hormonal changes, bacterial or inflammatory disturbance take place.

When there is a rise or changes in the hormones level, it can cause the sebaceous glands to enlarge and make more sebum. Example: purberty age, menstrual cycle, pregnancy and start or stop birth control pills.

Another factor is Heredity. The tendency to have acne problem can be inherited from the parents. If your friend have absolute, clear porcelain skin, it could be their genes too.

Stress could also be one of the contributing reason to breakout. Hence, having enough sleep and drink more water to lessen the chance of getting acne.

Some people who are on medication can also get acne. Certain drugs, including androgens, lithium, and barbiturates, are known to cause acne.

Unsuitable Topical product can worsen the condition of acne.

Non-Oil based cosmetics may also caused acne. People who are oily skin type should use grease free cosmetic products. Using the wrong cosmetic products or not removing your face make-up will cause your face pores to clog. This will also worsen the acne condition.

Environment Factors. People who are staying in high humid country or country who is facing serious air pollution should take extra care on their face. Especially in hot weather country, you sweat and face become much more oilier. Proper daily cleansing is definitely a MUST to get rid of the dirt and oil on your face.
